SUMMARY:RE:VIVE Europe: Rethinking Low-Density Territories\, Inspiring Big Futures
DESCRIPTION:The programme will take place in Oliveira do Hospital\, at Oliveira do Hospital School of Technology and Management (ESTGOH)\, part of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra\, and will be taught entirely in English. \n\n\n\nRE:VIVE Europe was designed to explore the viability of low-density territories as drivers of sustainable development\, innovation and territorial cohesion. The initiative proposes an integrated approach\, combining academic reflection\, immersion in the territory and collaborative work\, challenging participants to answer the central question: “Low-density territories and their surrounding areas: how to design the future of these territories?“ \n\n\n\nThe focus is mainly on regions associated with small towns (with less than 25\,000 inhabitants)\, which are often faced with structural challenges such as progressive depopulation\, demographic ageing\, the fragility of basic services and distance from decision-making centres. The programme argues\, however\, that these territories represent unique opportunities for alternative models of development\, where tradition can coexist with creativity and innovation. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nLanguage: English \n\n\n\nDates of physical mobility: 27 April to 1 May 2026\n\n\n\nLocation: Polytechnic University of Coimbra (Portugal)\n\n\n\nVirtual Mobility Dates: 13 and 17 April 2026\n\n\n\nNumber of ECTS: 4\n\n\n\nMaximum number of participants: UNIgreen Alliance\,  5 Students &  2 Teachers per institution  \n\n\n\n\nWho?\n\n\n\nUNIgreen Alliance Students & Teachers are required to be able to communicate fluently in English\, although no formal certification is required. \n\n\n\nSubject\n\n\n\nRE:VIVE Europe encourages participants to develop strategic and spatial proposals aligned with five main objectives: \n\n\n\n\nTerritorial revitalisation and resilience\n\n\n\nValorisation of resources\n\n\n\nIdeas for planning and public policies\n\n\n\nCreative solutions\n\n\n\nEuropean models of sustainability\n\n\n\n\nProgramme\n\n\n\nThe programme consists of an intensive course combining classes\, workshops\, multidisciplinary teamwork\, and field activities.  \n\n\n\nThe programme also includes: \n\n\n\n\n5 lunches and 2 dinners and tasting of regional products\n\n\n\n\n\nTerritorial immersion tours\, exploring natural heritage\, biodiversity\, landscapes of high scenic value\, cultural heritage\, historic buildings\, archaeological sites\, intangible traditions and sporting activities.\n\n\n\n\nParticipation is free of charge.
