He started his academic career in 1998 as an assistant professor at the Department of Microbiology & Environmental Biotechnologies. He completed his PhD in Microbiology at the University of Córdoba (Spain) in 2003\, and his postdoctoral research in bacterial proteomics was conducted during 2007-2008 at the same university. The academic positions “associate professor” and “professor” were held in 2010 and 2023\, respectively. He was the Bulgarian team coordinator of 7 international projects [Horizon (Suwanu\, Suwanu Europe\, Crop-Matching) and Erasmus+ (BOOST)]\, NATO CLG) and coordinator of 4 projects\, among others\, financed by the Bulgarian national science fund. His research interests are in the field of environmental and agricultural microbiology\, circular agriculture and bioeconomy\, and the recycling of organic materials. During his career\, he held various university positions\, as President of the General Assembly of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv and Director of Master courses in the Faculty of Plant Protection and Agroecology. In addition\, he held various public positions – Director of the Regional inspection of environment and waters of Plovdiv district\, Director of Ecology and waste management department in the Municipality of Plovdiv\, member of the Bulgarian parliament\, and currently Plovdiv municipality councilor.

DESCRIPTION:The initiative aims to promote reflection on intersectionality in higher education through the development of a social awareness campaign created by students from the fields of Art and Design\, Communication and Multimedia Design\, and Organizational Communication. \n\n\n\nThroughout November\, awareness sessions will take place in selected Academic Units of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (PUC)\, led by representatives of WP5 – Diversity\, Inclusiveness & Multiculturalism. These sessions aim to introduce and discuss the topic of intersectionality\, promoting dialogue and sharing perspectives among students and faculty. DESCRIPTION:University of Almería organise a meeting on Public policies\, embodied care: deferred experiences \n\n\n\nSpeakers:  \n\n\n\n\nMagdalena Correa Blázquez\, Psychology Department\, UAL\n\n\n\nMaría Teresa Martín Palomo\, Departamento de Geografía\, Historia y Humanidades\, UAL\n\n\n\n\nSummary: Brief presentation of UNIgreen and its gender equality plan\, followed by a discussion of how\, in the field of care\, public policies are integrated and form a broad matrix of mutual and intersubjective relationships. In this context\, three milestones in the relationship between the right to care and a democratic society will be highlighted: 1) the ageing of the population and the challenges it poses\, 2) the professionalisation of care\, and 3) the genesis of social systems involving various institutions and social agents (families\, the market\, the community and public policies). In this context\, care policies take on a prominent role in the design of participatory governance models. This is reflected both in the Draft Care Bill of February 2025\, which proposes a reform of the Dependency and Disability Laws\, and in the care roundtables that have worked to devise a care system that integrates the different organisations and social agents involved in its design as a fundamental step towards a more democratic society\, involving all its actors in access to care and being cared for. \n\n\n\nTo this we must add the wide diversity of humanity\, which in turn determines the enormous variety in the demand for effective public policies\, which nevertheless tend to become entrenched. From an intersectional perspective\, this work proposes to question the material reality of public policies as embodied care by exploring diverse experiences of them. Are they sufficient\, what needs do they cover or not\, how can they be improved\, how do they account for intersectionality?

His PhD thesis was focused on National Forest Inventory data and assessing site index for Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) in Polish lowlands. Moreover\, he is also interested in the spread of mistletoe (Viscum album) in the pine forests of Central Europe. In his interests\, he also conducts research in decision support systems and multi-criteria forest management.

DESCRIPTION:Topic\nIntersectionality is a framework for understanding how various aspects of a person’s identity\, such as gender\, ethnicity\, disability\, sexual orientation\, and socio-economic status intersect and contribute to unique experiences of privilege and discrimination. \nWhen?\nOn Thursday\, 13 November\, 2025\, join us for an online event\, from 10:00 to 12:00 CET with expert speakers and engaging discussions. \n\nRegistration\n\nModerator\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThibaut Lamoureux\n\n\n\nCoordinator of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemical Engineering at HEPL – Haute Ecole de la Province de Liège and co-creator of the Gender Equality Cell. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTindara Addabbo\n\n\n\nFull Professor in Economic Policy\, Department of Economics Marco Biagi UNIMORE and UNIgreen WP5 member. \n\n\n\nCoordinator of the Marco Biagi Foundation Gender Equity Lab\, funder and member of the Scientific Committee of the university start-up IDEM.  She has coordinated the H2020 Project: LeTSGEPs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBastien Bomans\n\n\n\nGender and Equality Officer at ULiège. \n\n\n\nHis main tasks involves the coordination of ULiège’s Gender and Equality Advisory Board (GEAB)\, the information and the raising of awareness around issues of gender\, equality\, diversity and inclusion\, as well as the monitoring of GEAB’s initiatives. \n\n\n\nBastien Bomans is also a PhD candidate at ULiège since January 2020 working in the postcolonial research unit CEREP. His thesis project sheds light on various novels from Trinidad and Tobago and its diaspora and aims at offering a multidimensional reading of these works through a lens that is simultaneously queer and intersectional. \n\n\n\nAdded to his professional career\, Bastien Bomans is also a volunteer and the president of the “Maison Arc-en-Ciel de Liège” – a local LGBTQIA+ association. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUgla Stefanía Kristjönudóttir Jónsdóttir\n\n\n\nShe is an award winning campaigner\, writer and feminist\, originally from Iceland. She co-runs My Genderation\, a film project that centres around celebrating trans lives and trans experiences. She is a columnist for the Metro UK and the co-author of the Trans Teen Survival Guide and Trans Survival Workbook. In 2019 they were on the BBC 100 Women List for the most influential women in the world. SUMMARY:Understanding the Gender Pay Gap
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce an upcoming in-person seminar hosted at Agricultural University – Plovdiv\, led by Rositsa Beluhova-Uzunova\, member of WP2. \n\n\n\nTopic\n\n\n\nUnderstanding the Gender Pay Gap. \n\n\n\nWhen and Where?\n\n\n\nThe seminar will take place on 11 November 2025 at 09:00 as an on-site event. It is organized as a joint initiative between Work Package 5 and Work Package 2 and forms part of the Equality Days programme within the UNIgreen Alliance. \n\n\n\nSubject\n\n\n\nThe seminar will analyse the causes\, consequences and policy responses related to the gender pay gap\, with an emphasis on recent developments within the European Union. The seminar will provide a comprehensive explanation of how the gender pay gap is measured and interpreted\, distinguishing between the unadjusted pay gap based on overall earnings differences and the adjusted gap\, which accounts for variables such as education\, sector of employment and working hours. \n\n\n\nThe seminar will explore structural and socio-economic factors that contribute to unequal pay between men and women. Special attention will be given to the economic and social implications of the gender pay gap and its impact on women’s career development\, lifetime earnings and pension security. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, the seminar will review key EU strategies and legislative measures\, including the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025\, the Work-Life Balance Directive and the Pay Transparency Directive (2023). These initiatives aim to strengthen fairness and transparency in employment conditions and encourage institutional and corporate action in favour of equal pay for equal work. \n\n\n\nThis event supports UNIgreen’s  and Agricultural University- Plovdiv commitment to promoting equality\, diversity and inclusion and provides an opportunity for sharing knowledge\, building awareness and fostering dialogue on gender equality in both academic and professional environments. \n\n\n\nStay tuned: after the event\, we will share the seminar on UNIgreen YouTube Channel.
