SUMMARY:RE:VIVE Europe: Rethinking Low-Density Territories\, Inspiring Big Futures
DESCRIPTION:The programme will take place in Oliveira do Hospital\, at Oliveira do Hospital School of Technology and Management (ESTGOH)\, part of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra\, and will be taught entirely in English. \n\n\n\nRE:VIVE Europe was designed to explore the viability of low-density territories as drivers of sustainable development\, innovation and territorial cohesion. The initiative proposes an integrated approach\, combining academic reflection\, immersion in the territory and collaborative work\, challenging participants to answer the central question: “Low-density territories and their surrounding areas: how to design the future of these territories?“ \n\n\n\nThe focus is mainly on regions associated with small towns (with less than 25\,000 inhabitants)\, which are often faced with structural challenges such as progressive depopulation\, demographic ageing\, the fragility of basic services and distance from decision-making centres. The programme argues\, however\, that these territories represent unique opportunities for alternative models of development\, where tradition can coexist with creativity and innovation. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nLanguage: English \n\n\n\nDates of physical mobility: 27 April to 1 May 2026\n\n\n\nLocation: Polytechnic University of Coimbra (Portugal)\n\n\n\nVirtual Mobility Dates: 13 and 17 April 2026\n\n\n\nNumber of ECTS: 4\n\n\n\nMaximum number of participants: UNIgreen Alliance\, 5 Students & 2 Teachers per institution \n\n\n\n\nWho?\n\n\n\nUNIgreen Alliance Students & Teachers are required to be able to communicate fluently in English\, although no formal certification is required. \n\n\n\nSubject\n\n\n\nRE:VIVE Europe encourages participants to develop strategic and spatial proposals aligned with five main objectives: \n\n\n\n\nTerritorial revitalisation and resilience\n\n\n\nValorisation of resources\n\n\n\nIdeas for planning and public policies\n\n\n\nCreative solutions\n\n\n\nEuropean models of sustainability\n\n\n\n\nProgramme\n\n\n\nThe programme consists of an intensive course combining classes\, workshops\, multidisciplinary teamwork\, and field activities. \n\n\n\nThe programme also includes: \n\n\n\n\n5 lunches and 2 dinners and tasting of regional products\n\n\n\n\n\nTerritorial immersion tours\, exploring natural heritage\, biodiversity\, landscapes of high scenic value\, cultural heritage\, historic buildings\, archaeological sites\, intangible traditions and sporting activities.\n\n\n\n\nParticipation is free of charge. SUMMARY:Participation in solving local socio-environmental issues
DESCRIPTION:Language: English (Level B2)\n\n\n\nDates physical mobility: 4 to 8 May 2026\n\n\n\nLocation: Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland)\n\n\n\nDates virtual mobility: 1 to 30 April and 10 – 31 May on selected days \, depending on participants’ availability\n\n\n\nNumber of ECTS: 3 ECTS\n\n\n\nMaximum number of participants: 20\n\n\n\n\nTarget Participants\n\n\n\nBachelor’s and Master’s students interested in environmental issues\, social conflicts\, participatory processes\, and sustainable management of natural areas. \n\n\n\nSubject\n\n\n\nParticipation in Solving Local Socio-Environmental Issues – Outreach Programme is the BIP organised by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences . The programme focuses on real-life socio-environmental conflicts and aims to help students understand how environmental protection\, local community needs\, and economic interests interact and sometimes conflict with one another. Participants will work on a case study from Zalesie (near Warsaw) \, a forested area where tensions have emerged around the use of shared natural space. Through this case\, students will explore how different stakeholder groups perceive environmental problems and how dialogue and participatory approaches can help develop sustainable solutions. \n\n\n\nStudents will also take part in collaborative workshops where they analyse collected data and develop recommendations addressing the identified socio-environmental challenges. After the onsite component\, participants will continue working online to prepare a joint report and discuss their results with researchers and experts. \n\n\n\nThe programme offers students an opportunity to gain practical experience in participatory research\, stakeholder dialogue\, and interdisciplinary problem-solving\, while working in an international academic environment. By engaging with a real local case\, participants will develop skills useful for future work in environmental management\, public policy\, and community engagement \n\n\n\n\nLeaflet\n\n\n\n\nProgramme\n\n\n\nThe programme combines online collaboration with an intensive onsite learning experience. During the virtual part\, participants will work in small international groups\, analyse the case study\, and prepare for fieldwork. \n\n\n\nThe onsite week in Warsaw will include lectures on forests and environmental governance in Poland\, workshops on public consultations and social conflicts\, meetings with local residents and stakeholders\, and fieldwork using participatory observation and interview methods. \n\n\n\nBefore Online Course\n\nget to know other participants and their backgrounds\n\n\n\nwork in small international groups and build team dynamics\n\n\n\nexplore the case and its social and environmental context through interactive online activities \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 1\n\nRegistration and welcome session\n\n\n\nLecture on forests and forest-related issues in Poland\n\n\n\nLecture on public consultations\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 2\n\nMeeting point in front of the Crystal Hall building\, transfer to the local community – Zalesie (9:00)\n\n\n\nIntroduction to fieldwork methods\, followed by meetings with residents\, participatory observation\, and interviews\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 3\n\nMeeting point in front of the Crystal Hall building (9.00\, WULS campus)\, transfer to Zalesie\n\n\n\nMeetings with stakeholders and continuation of field work\n\n\n\nParticipatory workshops\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 4\n\nMeeting point in front of the Crystal Hall building (8.30\, WULS campus)\n\n\n\nFilip de Girard Linen Museum in Żyrardów\, Ethnographic Museum in Łowicz\, Chopin Museum in Żelazowa Wola\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 5\n\nData analysis\, discussion on possible solutions and recommendations\n\n\n\nSummary of the BIP\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter Online Course\n\nwork collaboratively on group projects addressing the conflict \n\n\n\ndiscuss findings\, experiences\, and proposed solutions with peers and mentors \n\n\n\napply interactive methods and tools to reflect on reallife social and environmental challenges  \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply?\n\n\n\nThe student’s home university may conduct an internal selection process for the BIP.
