This event, organized within the UNIgreen JRC3 Food Technology, Quality and Safety, brings together researchers, students and food industry professionals to discuss packaging-related strategies for addressing sustainability in food chains.

What does the evidence actually say about organic food? Drawing on scientific literature published between 2010 and 2025, together with her own work at SGGW’s Department of Functional and Organic Food, Prof. Rembiałkowska reviews how the rules of organic production, set out in Regulation (EU) 2018/848, and excluding GMOs, synthetic pesticides and synthetic mineral fertilisers, shape the composition of plant and animal products, and what that means for consumers.
The webinar covers reported differences in bioactive compounds, pesticide and cadmium residues, nitrates, and the fatty-acid and micronutrient profile of organic milk and meat, before turning to the epidemiological studies linking organic diets to health outcomes in children and adults. It closes with what the findings imply for public and private decision-makers.
Prof. Rembiałkowska has published over 200 scientific articles in this field and is president of the Polish Organic Farming Forum Association and of ENOAT, and vice-president of FQH.

Ewa Rembiałkowska
PhD, Department of Functional and Organic Food at the Institute of Human Nutrition, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
Her research focuses on the nutritional value and safety of both organically and conventionally produced foods, as well as the impact of organic foods on human and animal health. She has published over 200 scientific articles in this field, 62 of which have appeared in high-impact journals (according to the Web of Science). Hirsch index = 26; 2,540 citations (without self-citations) [3 July 2026]. She is the president of the Polish Organic Farming Forum Association, which promotes organic farming among farmers and processors, raises awareness of organic products, and inspires and supports scientific research that advances organic farming in Poland. Professor Rembiałkowska has led and continues to lead numerous national and international research and application projects relating to the fields of organic farming and food. She is a board member of several European and global organisations dedicated to promoting this field [FQH (vice-president), OFSP (member of the steering committee), ISOFAR (ex-board member), ENOAT (president)].
