Target Participants


BSc nad MSc students in forestry and environmental sciences.

Subject

Can alien tree species help mitigate the negative effects of climate change? What silvicultural and management methods prove effective for alien species? What benefits and risks do alien species pose to forest ecosystems?

Students will increase their knowledge of:

  • the ecological and economic impacts of alien species in forest ecosystems
  • management strategies and control methods for invasive species
  • the interactions between alien plants, trees, and animals in shaping forest structure an function
  • sustainable forest management approaches integrating biodiversity protection

Programme

Participants will take part in lectures, workshops, field excursions, forest site visits, and Oxford-style debates.

Practical Information

Accommodation will be provided at the SGGW Forest Experimental Station in Rogów, located within a unique forest arboretum.  The cost of accommodation and meals is approximately €50 per day, including a shared double or triple room, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at the on-site cafeteria.

The student’s home university may conduct an internal selection process for the BIP. Registration is possible only via the application form and must be completed after the participant has received confirmation from their home university of their eligibility to take part in the BIP.
