RE:VIVE Europe: rethinking low-density territories, inspiring big futures

April 27 May 1

The programme will take place in Oliveira do Hospital, at Oliveira do Hospital School of Technology and Management (ESTGOH), part of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, and will be taught entirely in English.

RE:VIVE Europe was designed to explore the viability of low-density territories as drivers of sustainable development, innovation and territorial cohesion. The initiative proposes an integrated approach, combining academic reflection, immersion in the territory and collaborative work, challenging participants to answer the central question: “Low-density territories and their surrounding areas: how to design the future of these territories?

The focus is mainly on regions associated with small towns (with less than 25,000 inhabitants), which are often faced with structural challenges such as progressive depopulation, demographic ageing, the fragility of basic services and distance from decision-making centres. The programme argues, however, that these territories represent unique opportunities for alternative models of development, where tradition can coexist with creativity and innovation.
