Both courses at UAL and at SupBiotech are organized into theoretical lessons, laboratory practical experiments and projects. A mobility period at the partner University is mandatory for students applying for the double master’s degrees.
University of Almeria (Spain)
Industrial and Agri-food Biotechnology is a master’s degree course provided by the University of Almeria (Spain) aiming to train professionals capable of contributing to the development of the bioeconomy, based on scientific knowledge that improves the competitiveness of our companies in the health, agrifood and environmental sectors integrating competences chemical engineering, genetics, microbiology, plant physiology, zoology and biochemistry.
SupBiotech Engineering School of Biotechnology (France)
Biotechnology Engineering is a master’s degree course provided by the SupBiotech Engineering School of Biotechnology (France). SupBiotech’s Biotechnology engineering program is accredited by Medicen Paris Région and Industries and Bioeconomy for Change. Students will start their educational programme attaining specific skills in fundamental biological sciences, economics and engineering science, as well as technological and general skills. Furthermore, student have the possibility to personalize their curriculum and to specialize in one of the 5 sectors of activities in biotechnology: health, cosmetics, environment, agribusiness or bioinformatics.

Admission at UAL

At UAL preferential access profiles are:
- Graduates in Chemical Engineering, Biology, Agricultural Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Renewable Energy, Pharmacology, Food Science and Technology, Veterinary, Medicine.
- Bachelor’s Degrees related to Life Sciences and Health Sciences, and other Higher-level Engineering.
Once the Spanish students are enrolled in the master, they can send their application for participating in the Double Master’s Degree to the UAL International Office until the end of October.
UAL students enrolled in the Master’s degree in Industrial and Agri-Food Biotechnology will access the SUP Biotechnology Engineering Diploma for the second semester. Additionally, they must complete an extra semester in SUP, in such a way that, passing a total of 60 ECTS in SUP, the students of the Master’s degree in Industrial and Agri-Food Biotechnology from the UAL plus a six-month internship, will obtain the diploma of “Graduate in Biotechnology Engineering” by SupBiotech.
Admission at SupBiotech
At SupBiotech students entering the first year of the five-year course must have a High school diploma and go through a competitive entrance exam (written tests and oral motivational interview) after which they are ranked and selected based on their results. Students can also apply to SupBiotech through a side track process, after having completed undergraduate studies at another institution. In this case, the application process includes an oral presentation on a scientific topic and a motivational interview. SUP students enrolled in the Engineering Degree in Biotechnology will access the Spanish Educational System to study the Master’s degree in Industrial and Agri-Food Biotechnology at the UAL after having passed at least 240 ECTS in their university of origin (fifth years students), which guarantees that they have acquired the skills and learning results verified in the Master’s Degree in Industrial and Agri-Food Biotechnology at the UAL.
