SupBiotech is an Engineering School specialising in Biotechnology with an innovative spirit in rapidly growing fields: pharmaceuticals, food processing, environmental science, and cosmetics. SupBiotech operates in two locations: Villejuif and Lyon. The technological platform at SupBiotech Lyon includes a versatile laboratory dedicated to practical work. We are recruiting a laboratory technician to accommodate all our students during their practical activities under the best possible conditions and to support the school’s development.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Lyon site management and the Laboratory Services Department, you will participate in the technical and educational activities of our institution. Your main tasks will include preparing equipment, managing the laboratories, and providing academic support for practical lessons.

Assigned Tasks:

  • In coordination with the instructors and Laboratory Services staff, prepare and check the necessary equipment to ensure the smooth conduct of practical lessons.
  • Set up laboratory rooms.
  • Update, consult, and utilize technical documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance to teachers during practical sessions as needed.
  • Ensure students and staff respect the safety conditions.
  • Participate in the development of protocols, the advancement of new techniques, and the exploitation of results.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and equipment stocks, following internal procedures.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Contribute, if necessary, to the implementation of new equipment.
  • Facilitate the connection between the teachings at the Ile-de-France and Lyon sites.
  • Participate in SupBiotech’s Open Days.

The tasks described above may evolve based on the school’s development.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques in Life Sciences and Chemistry.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment (PSM, microscope, spectrophotometer, pH meter, thermocycler, electrophoresis systems, centrifuges, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate and report results daily.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and safety rules related to laboratories.
  • Good command of basic computer tools.
  • Mastery of scientific and technical English.

Laboratory Techniques:

  • Microbial cultures in Erlenmeyer flasks and bioreactors, aseptic handling.
  • Culture and maintenance of cell lines, transfection, phenotypic characterization.
  • Cloning, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA extraction and analysis.
  • Protein purification and analysis by chromatography, biochemical assays, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting.
  • Chemical titration, kinetics, infrared.

Profile:

Education level bac+2/3 in Life Sciences, BTS (Biotechnology, Bioanalysis and Controls), BUT (Biological Engineering).

Required Qualities: You demonstrate organisational and relational skills. Your rigor, strong inclination for versatility, and adaptability will be essential to carry out the assigned tasks successfully.

The following qualities are also indispensable: Seriousness and involvement; Interest in teaching; Team spirit, communication skills.

Practical Conditions: Tetanus and hepatitis B vaccination is required.

Contract Type: Permanent contract, 35 hours per week. Meal voucher card, health insurance, 50% reimbursement of public transport subscriptions, works council benefits, and a company savings plan are also included.

Salary: 23 000€ – 25 000 €.
