The concept of One Health is an integrated approach that recognises the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. The fundamental idea behind One Health is that the health of an individual or population is closely linked to the health of the environment in which they live, as well as the health of the animals with which they interact.
One Health aims to promote close collaboration between professionals in human health, animal health, and the environment to address complex public health issues that result from the interaction of these three domains. This approach acknowledges that many diseases can be transmitted between humans, animals, and the environment, and that effective prevention and control of these diseases require a holistic understanding of these interactions.
The establishment of a JRC dedicated to the One Health concept within UNIgreen represents a strategic and visionary opportunity. This initiative aligns with an integrated approach to address the complex challenges faced by human, animal, and environmental health.
