Around 40 students and other members of the academic community at the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (PUC) took part in an “Eco-Cycle”, on 11 March, aimed at encouraging active lifestyles and recognising the importance and social responsibility of keeping these spaces clean, by cycling the route, as well as protecting the environment through sustainable mobility and waste collection.
This clean-up and environmental awareness initiative began on the campus of the Higher Agricultural School, from where participants cycled to Coimbra’s Parque Verde, making several strategic stops to collect waste, which was subsequently sent to the appropriate final destination. The initiative is in line with UNIgreen’s values of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The event was organised by the IPC Health and Wellbeing Promotion Team, with additional support from Ansell, which provided the gloves used by the participants.
