IMPAR Project Update

The University of Almería (UAL), a partner in the Erasmus+ KA2 Capacity Building for Higher Education project, IMPAR, continues to make significant strides alongside its consortium partners. Led by the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (PUC), IMPAR – “Inovar para Empoderar as Mulheres como Promotoras da Economia Social Subsaariana” – aims to empower young women in Sub-Saharan Africa as drivers of the social economy.

In late July, the UAL International Project Management Team met with IMPAR professors María José Cazorla González and Fernando del Moral Torres to review the project’s progress. The professors highlighted the excellent collaboration and positive atmosphere among all consortium participants.

The first phase of the project, which focused on creating a competence framework, has been successfully completed. This was achieved through a collaborative effort between PUC, INCOMA and UAL, utilising a specially designed survey. Currently, the consortium is assessing the needs of African institutions to develop tailored training content for two social entrepreneurship courses. These courses, which aim to be recognised as micro-credentials, will provide young women aged 18 to 30 with the essential knowledge, interpersonal, managerial, and collaborative skills necessary to create and sustain eco-inclusive social enterprises in Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Angola.

In addition, the virtual incubator led by UAL is set to launch in October. This incubator will serve as a key resource for supporting participants, while African institutions will be encouraged to establish physical spaces to further assist the young women involved in the project.

IMPAR represents a transformative opportunity for the region, promoting the growth of sustainable, socially responsible enterprises led by empowered women. We encourage the public to follow the evolution of this project, which promises exciting results and the foundation of strong, long-lasting relationships between partners. Stay tuned for further updates on this impactful initiative!
