Solar Energy Seminar Held at AUP

On 26 February 2026, a seminar“ Solar Energy for Sustainable Rural Development: Assessing Potential, Opportunities, and Policy Frameworks” was held at Agricultural University – Plovdiv. The event was led by Rositsa Beluhova, member of WP2.

The seminar brought together academic staff and students interested in renewable energy and rural development. The discussion focused on the strategic role of solar energy as a key driver of sustainable transformation in rural areas.

During the session, participants explored:

  • The potential of solar energy systems in rural territories
  • Economic and social benefits for local communities, farmers, and small businesses
  • The integration of solar technologies with agricultural and rural infrastructure
  • Policy instruments, funding mechanisms, and EU-level support for renewable deployment
  • Regulatory challenges and future development pathways

The seminar generated lively and engaging discussions, with participants actively contributing insights on practical implementation challenges, investment conditions, and governance frameworks necessary for accelerating renewable energy adoption in rural regions. Particular attention was given to the role of solar energy in enhancing energy security, stimulating local economies, and supporting the objectives of the European green transition.
