People behind UNIgreen: Mayron Schlossem

Could you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Mayron, I am a student in International Business at the University-College of the Province of Liège, where I am a UNIgreen ambassador. I am also involved in an association for Erasmus students (ESN), which helps international students integrate and feel welcome. Through my role as a UNIgreen ambassador, I take part in workshops and activities organized at my school. These experiences allow me to promote sustainability, international cooperation, and European values among students. Being involved in UNIgreen helps me grow both academically and personally, while connecting with students from different countries and cultures.

Can you share a concrete way in which UNIgreen is having a positive impact?

One concrete way UNIgreen makes a positive impact is by bringing students together through international and sustainable projects. UNIgreen offers workshops and activities that help students better understand global challenges, especially those related to sustainability and cooperation between countries. These initiatives encourage students to work together, share ideas, and learn from different cultures. For many students, UNIgreen is a first opportunity to be involved in an international project. It helps them develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, and open-mindedness. By connecting students from different institutions, UNIgreen creates a strong European community focused on learning, respect, and long-term impact.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned from working with such a diverse and international team?

Working with a diverse and international team taught me that collaboration is stronger when people respect and understand each other’s differences. Everyone has a different way of thinking, communicating, and working, influenced by their culture and background. I learned that listening and being open-minded are essential to work efficiently together. This experience also made me realize how important the values of UNIgreen are, such as cooperation, sustainability, and responsibility. In the future, I would like to integrate these values into my professional projects, especially in an international business context, where ethical choices and long-term impact are becoming increasingly important.

If UNIgreen were a plant, how would you describe it?

If UNIgreen were a plant, it would be a centuries-old tree. It grows slowly, step by step, but its growth is strong and constant. Its roots represent shared values like sustainability, cooperation, and education. Its branches grow across countries and cultures, connecting students and institutions. Each leaf represents a new idea or a student contributing to the project. This tree shows that UNIgreen is built for the long term, with patience and commitment, and continues to grow while bringing people together around common goals.
